Slavery
In December 2023, Nikki Haley was at a New Hampshire town hall and was asked about the cause of the Civil War. She didn't mention slavery in her response. She tried to turn the tables on the questioner by asking him for the answer.
He said that he was not the one running for president and wished instead to know her answer. After Haley gave a less than satisfying answer, he said. “In the year 2023, it’s astonishing to me that you answer that question without mentioning the word slavery.”
Math error
On July 4, 2022, Nikki Haley sent a tweet criticizing President Joe Biden for the increased cost of food at Independence Day celebrations. Her tweet used the graphic below that shows the percentage each food item has increased since the previous year. Then she added all those percentages and claimed that the the food items cost 67.2 percent more than the previous year.
She should have taken the average of those percentages instead, which would have been about 11 percent. Since she graduated from Clemson University in 1994 with a bachelor's degree in accounting, she was widely criticized for the error.
Besides, how much control over the price of food does a president really have?
